Name: Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III
Age: 15
Movie/Show: How to Train Your Dragon
Picture:
Other: NA
Personality: Hiccup, unlike the other teens in his village, is not exactly the most rowdy guy in the universe. In fact, Hiccup is withdrawn to some degree. He prefers to keep to himself unless directly confronted by people. Hiccup is known for being very sarcastic and blunt when he actually is addressed, but deep down he does have a good heart. He is a bit of a coward, too, but when push comes to shove Hiccup is willing to do what he has to for his friends. ...If he had any to speak of, that is.
History: Hiccup was born and raised in the village of Berk, a village of Vikings, and was born the son of Chief Stoick the Vast. Unlike his father, a renowned slayer of dragons and one of the bravest Vikings in Berk, Hiccup was scrawny, pitiful, and cowardly. He couldn't even wield a sword! As a result, Hiccup was viewed as a sort of outcast in the village. He was bullied by some of the other teens, particularly Snotlout and the twins Ruffnut and Tuffnut, and generally ignored by most of the villagers and told to keep out of the way. Hiccup did attempt to join in on the raids of the village, but usually he ended up causing much more trouble than he was worth.
One night during a raid, Hiccup attempted to do the impossible of catching a Night Fury. That particular night, there happened to be a shooting star that caught Hiccup's attention. Things began to grow strange after he saw the shooting star, though. Hiccup just... felt strange. He couldn't explain why that was. However, it led to his missing horribly at catching the Night Fury. A Nightmare showed up not long after Hiccup's failure at catching the Night Fury and Hiccup ran for his life. When he was eventually cornered, something strange happened. He somehow made a ball of fire appear from out of nowhere and shot it at the Nightmare. It was enough to somehow startle the Nightmare and sent it on its way out of the village. The dumbfounded villagers of Berk didn't know what to make of Hiccup's spontaneous fire, but one thing was for certain. Hiccup realized that somehow he had become a bigger oddball and he didn't even know how!
Hiccup tried to explain that it wouldn't happen again, even if he didn't know if that was true or not, but his father was fed up with Hiccup's strangeness. He sent Hiccup away from Berk and left him to fend for himself. Hiccup ended up wandering into a strange place far from his home, only to happen upon a castle where he was greeted by a raven-haired woman named Gothel. She didn't ask him to explain his presence. Instead, she took him in and said something about helping him better his skills. Hiccup didn't know what those skills were, but if he wouldn't be viewed as a freak then he was okay with it.
Family: Stoick the Vast (father)
Element: Fire
Class: Wizard. One that is in need of a lot of training.
Allies: Fellow students and Gothel for now
Enemies: Left for roleplay
Sample Post: Why... why can't I make it happen again?
Hiccup didn't understand it. That night during the raid, he had been able to make fire appear to scare off a Nightmare. Now that he was banished from his village and under the teachings of a strange black-haired woman, Hiccup couldn't seem to reproduce the fire with the same efficiency that he had that night. Whenever he attempted it, he would accidentally set something else on fire... or himself. Gods forbid that he accidentally make something explode. Hiccup just couldn't understand why he couldn't make fire the same way he had when he was almost attacked by the Nightmare. Was it because he needed to be scared to make it happen? Did it require him to be under pressure? Hiccup didn't know. All he knew was that he was only getting sparks when he had once succeeded in getting an entire ball of fire. It had been nothing spectacular, but Hiccup didn't want to forever be known as the kid that could make sparks.
"If only I hadn't seen that shooting star... maybe none of this would have happened." Hiccup murmured. It seemed strange that one act of nature had led to his being banished and his perpetual ability to accidentally burn himself. Whatever the reasons, Hiccup was there. He was away from his home and the few Vikings he had cared about to some degree all because of a dumb star. Hiccup scoffed a little at that thought. The world was mocking him. He just knew it.
