Night of Weddings
Chase stared at himself in the mirror. He hated what he was wearing, the tuxedo made him look less like a warrior than anything else. He wished he could just wear his normal attire. Unfortunetly with his new sister-in-law around, that probably wouldn’t be possible.
“I hate this.” He muttered under his breath.
“Don’t tell Musa that, she’ll kill you.” Chase turned around to see his half-brother watching him with a smirk.
“I don’t see why I can’t just wear my normal clothes.” Chase replied. “I mean, wearing a tuxedo doesn’t exactly read, the greatest dark out of all the earth.”
“No, but it screams Prince of the Fairies.” Rex said with a smirk.
“If I wasn’t getting married today, your head would be served on a silver platter to cats.” Chase said, giving his half-sibling a glare. “and besides, both Kimiko and I agreed that we would be called King and Queen of the Demon Fairies.”
“You agreed to it?” Rex asked with a raised eyebrow. “Or did Musa force it on you.”
“No one tells me what to do. You should know that by now.” Chase replied.
Rex did remember and often did his best not to think about it. He pushed back his hair before turning back to the church. “Are you ready?”
“Please, I am always ready.” Chase said. “No wedding is going to scare me away.”
Rex shook his head before smiling and walking back to his spot in the isles. Chase sighed before turning back to his reflection. Why couldn’t they just have had this wedding in secret? He knew very well that a wedding like this meant the world to Kimiko.
“Might as well get this over with.” He sighed before walking out to face the one thing he was dreading.
The wedding itself was decorated in black and red. Both colors were meant to symbolize their differences and interests. Ikuto stood as Chase’s best man. It was understandable besides his half-brothers, the young demon prince didn’t have many friends on his own side. On the bride’s side, the blue haired fairy Dawn stood in a rosey pink dress. No doubt Kimiko’s maid of honor as some of the other fairies were her bridesmaids.
“Don’t choke.” Ikuto smirked giving Chase a nudge in the ribs.
Chase gave him a death glare before turning back to wait. The idea of waiting for this to be over was too much, he just wanted Musa to stop staring at him like he was a monster. However, once the music started and the door opened. His fears suddenly disappeared.
Kimiko was beautiful to him before but not like this. Her hair was down and tied in a long braid. The white dress was strapless with a long skirt. He was not surprised to see a necklace made of rubies on her neck. Even so, she did look more beautiful than he imagined.
“You look beautiful.” He whispered in her ear.
“You don’t look so bad yourself hot shot.” Kimiko smirked.
Chase was about to remark along the lines of “well I have to” but the priest had already started saying things. Of course, long after the ideal was over came another part.
“Does anyone have any objections to these two being wed?”
Chase flinched, his eyes flickered to Musa who was sitting with her husband Riven, not glaring but it was pretty close. He half expected her to stand up, but when she didn’t. It surprised him.
“You may now kiss the bride.”
Now it was normally the groom’s job to kiss the bride. At least that’s what Chase had read about in books. However, Kimiko grabbing him by the neckline of his tuxedo and kissed him for about a good five minutes.
“Wow.” Chase said. “I didn’t know you could kiss like that.”
Kimiko could only shrug and smirk as she practically dragged him outside the church.
His fears weren’t so badly realized after that. The after-party was interesting to say the least. Especially when it came time for toasts.
“I would like to say one thing for the bride and groom.” Chase had never known Rex to be good with words but still it was going to be interesting to say the least.
“Even though you are the world’s worst demon and I will probably most likely kill you within my life time,” Rex said. “For a brother you aren’t half bad and have provided yourself to be useful. Here’s to you, you better make her happy dude.”
Chase shook his head but gave Rex a nod. “Good to know that brothers have their uses. I will have to be sure to remember that next time you owe me a favor.” He said.
Rex’s face paled for a bit causing Kimiko to burst into giggles before Musa stood up.
“Even though I hate you. I have never seen my sister smile like that before.” The fairy queen said. “In fact, I have never seen her so happy with anyone. So, here’s the deal. You better make her happy and if you so much as break her heart. I will find you and kill you understand?”
“Musa!” Kimiko snapped.
“No, no its alright.” Chase said before standing up. “I have no intention of hurting my bride. She will be the only woman in my heart. You have my word.”
“I better.” Musa said with a glare.
Long after the party, Kimiko found Chase talking with Rex. The Hispanic teen noticed her coming before giving his half-brother a two fingered salute and walking away.
“You two seem to be getting along.” She pointed out.
“He’s a strange one, I will give him that.” Chase said. “But he is my half-brother, he’s not that bad.”
“I think my sister is warming up to you.” Kimiko replied.
“You think so?” Chase asked. “What gave it away? The “I am going to kill you” toast?”
“That’s just her way of saying she likes you.” Kimiko laughed. “You seemed nervous at the wedding.”
“I was just thinking that’s all.” Chase said. “How could a girl as beautiful as you want to marry a monster like me?”
She stared at him for a long time before pulling him into a kiss. “I don’t see you as a monster. You might be a demon, but you are still human to me.”
“Demons can never be human.” Chase replied.
“You aren’t a normal demon Chase. You said so yourself.” Kimiko said before turning away. “I have to go through the boquet.”
Chase nodded and watched her leave. He leaned against the railing of the balcony he was on and watched as the fire fairy stood on a chair and threw the boquet of red roses into the crowd of screaming girls.
Although, he was sure the others didn’t see it, especially not Kimiko, Chase had seen Raimundo do a little magic of his own and had guided the boquet into the arms of Dawn before winking at her.
Chase shook his head before smirking and turning back to the sight of the stars and moon. “I guess that’s one thing Mother got wrong.” He smirked. “I was going to be her perfect monster, but never was.” His golden eyes flashed yellow. “Sorry mother, looks like I’m more human than you thought.”
He turned back to see Kimiko laughing with several other girls before smiling at him and giving him a wave. He waved back with a dark smirk
“and I couldn’t be happier.”
