Appearance wise, Snake Eyes has changed very little. The magic did increase his speed, agility and stealth, so he can practically go anywhere undetected by almost any species. (His ninja skills of awesomeness now affect other species, not only humans! XD)
Personality: Snake Eyes is very calm, quiet and reserved. This is in part due to the loss of his vocal chords, but if he were able to talk, he would be a man of few words. Only to those closest to him does he have more to say, and he's picky about when he'll say it. Incredibly loyal and dedicated to those he calls friend. Snake Eyes has an inner drive to excel that is unmatched.Ask him to get you the moon and he'll probably do it or die trying. He does have a mischievous streak and occasionally used his ninja skills of awesomeness to rearrange the mess hall or his commander's private quarters, just because he thought it was funny.

Snake Eyes (not his original name) was an orphan in Japan, wandering the streets, not knowing if he would live to see the next day. During the day at the market, a young girl was attacked. Snake Eyes fought off the attackers and saved the girl. The girl's older brother was caught off guard by the attack and injured during the fight, so Snake helped walk him and the girl home. The girl's father (the Master) thanked Snake Eyes and upon learning the teen had nowhere to stay, welcomed him into his home and took him under his wing. After excelling in his training, the Master gave his student a new name : Snake Eyes, because he had the 'steely gaze of a serpent'. Snake Eyes had another name, once. He's long since forgotten it, and ever since completing his ninja training, he hasn't had a need to try and remember it.
Storm Shadow, the Master's son, proved to be a traitor and attempted to kill his father and Snake Eyes and take over the clan. The Master drank the poisioned tea and Snake Eyes tried to save him. Storm Shadow slit Snake Eyes' throat with a throwing star, claiming that he was only defending the Master from an assassin. Snake Eyes recovered, but his vocal chords were damaged beyond repair, leaving him mute.
Snake Eyes completed his training and left Japan, traveling for a time until he was recruited into an elite team of American soldiers under the name GI Joe.
It was through the Joes where he and Lieutenant Shana "Scarlett" O'Hara met. They went on a handful of missions and got to know each other better. Her knowledge of sign language helped greatly. Unknown to Scarlett, Snake Eyes had promised her father (before his death) that he would protect Shana with his life. Then, they parted ways: Snake Eyes left for Japan to deal with a copy cat, Scarlett moved into Military Intelligence.
When Scarlett contacted him about exposing Cobra's true intentions, he was more than happy to help. He joined her rag tag team of falsely accused Joes to help them clear their names.
The meteorite shower affected Snake Eyes faster than it would most, due to his deep connection to his surroundings. He quickly discovered that the magic had given him a 'voice' of sorts, in the form of telepathy. He also noted that his speed, agility and stealth had increased to supernatural proportions.

Technically, Storm Shadow is his 'sword brother'. They don't like each other, but by ninja standards, they are family.
