Name: Gothel
Age: Despite appearances, she’s over 400 years old
Movie/Show: Tangled
Picture:
Other: NA
Personality: Gothel is a manipulative, controlling, overprotective woman. She will not let anything get in the way of something she wants and isn’t against making people feel guilty to further manipulate them to do what she wants. Deep down, though, Gothel does have a caring side… she just tends to keep it hidden from most people. Gothel is also witty and blunt when she needs to be and is rather charismatic.
History: For quite a while, maybe even centuries, Gothel held her status as a fairly powerful witch. She was reclusive for the most part, keeping to herself to avoid sharing her secrets of magic, and lived out her days in a far off land. That all seemed to change when she saw a shooting star go across the night sky. Upon first glance, nothing seemed too out of the ordinary and so Gothel dismissed it as just an average falling star. Within the passing days, though, she discovered that her powers had increased. She had grown stronger and more competent. While others would have questioned it, Gothel didn’t. She had power, and she liked it. She was fully intent on continuing to live her reclusive life and keeping her powers to herself, but one day that changed.
It started when she was out walking one day. Gothel happened to find an abandoned castle. Quite obviously intrigued as to why the castle had been abandoned, Gothel decided to take it for her own. After all, no one would object to her taking an abandoned castle. Why would they? From there, though, things got more interesting.
Gothel happened upon a young girl one day. She didn’t question where the girl had come from or what she was doing all by herself, but Gothel did know an opportunity when she saw one. The girl seemed different than most others. Gothel couldn’t place why that was, but if it could further her goal for obtaining power then she would go with it. The girl, it turns out, was named Rapunzel. Gothel decided to take her under her wing and help her with her powers if she had any.
Soon, though, things began to become more interesting. More and more children began to show up at her castle one after another, seeming to have powers that they had yet to master or powers they hadn’t yet discovered, and Gothel would take them in. From what Gothel could gather, it sounded as though things had changed more than she had anticipated. Demons and angels evidently roamed free, and children were cropping up in great numbers with powers. Gothel wouldn’t question it, though. She simply would take the children in and prepare them for whatever was about to happen. Little did they realize that she actually had plans for them. If something were to happen, Gothel would have her own private army to fight it off with. She would never say a word to her pupils, though. She was fully intent on keeping them in the dark about it. Especially Rapunzel and anyone else that grew close to her.
Family: None to speak of
Element: Gothel is pretty much a master with all elements, but her preferred element is fire.
Class: A highly powerful witch
Allies: Her students mostly, particularly Rapunzel and eventually Myrtle.
Enemies: Left for roleplay
Sample Post: “Again.”
Gothel’s steely blue eyes narrowed as she watched the boy in front of her. He was, to say the very least, a complete and utter failure. How he had gained any magical powers was beyond her knowledge. Still, something told her not to give up on the redhead. Maybe, despite appearances, Hiccup could somehow pull through and prove himself to be a powerful wizard. She folded her arms across her chest and watched as the boy tried to concentrate. Gothel didn’t quite know she was working with this boy, but she had her reasons for wanting to further the skills of the children that she took in. If there was to be a war, Gothel wasn’t going to be ill prepared for it. She was going to have an army whether they knew they were a part of one or not.
Gothel was snapped from her thoughts when Hiccup yelped in pain. He had succeeded in setting something on fire. Unfortunately for him, and much to Gothel’s annoyance, it was himself. “No, no, NO! Try it again!” Gothel snapped. She was slowly but surely losing her patience. She didn't even register the look of confusion on his face as he patted down the flames he had conjured up.
“But we’ve been at this for an hour now!” Hiccup protested.
“Try. It. Again.” Gothel said through clenched teeth. Frustrating though it was, she couldn’t give up. Not yet. She had to keep telling herself that they would be useful in the long run. Even if some of them, such as Hiccup, were proving to be more useless than useful for the moment.
