(ooc: July 17th, open only to Rex and Van Kleiss for now. The only reason why i am using Sayaka is to get it ready for what was going to happen. Anyways, others can come in later just not now)
Clang! Clang! Clang Once again metal had struck metal as the two swords were brought together. This demon was stronger and much more faster than any of the ones Rex had faced. Not to mention it was a girl demon.
"What's wrong demon hunter, i thought you wanted to spill my blood?" the blue haired girl laughed insanely. "Was that all just an act?"
Rex bit his lip, this was going on too long, especially with the young elemental dancer who had just been killed disappearing. Her blood still remained on the battlefield. It had been too late when Rex arrived. Now what was he going to tell Casear? He cared for Anri.
"I hope your blood is just as pretty as that witch's." she laughed again. "It was so pretty like a rose." she lunged. Faster than Rex had anticipated which caused a large slash to appear in his side.
"Damn..." he cursed. 'It hurts...why does it hurt so badly?' He didn't have time to worry about that and lunged once again at the swordweilding demon.

Van Kleiss had been out on a walk. His long black hair shifted as the breeze blew. The moon's rays hit his back, his front becoming shaded. His robotic hand shifted as his trench coat shifted in the wind. His yellow irises moved upwards as the sound sof clanging were heard.
Hmm. A battle? Strange, it didn't sound anything bigger than a two-man scuffle, but if it involved weapons, someone could be seriously hurt. A sly grin weaseled its way onto his face as he started tramping through the underbrush. He wanted some entertainment and this sounded like the perfect example. He ducked under a tree brush as the sounds of conflict rose higher. He pushed a stray leaf out of the way and found two people locked in a deadly embrace. His body stiffened as his grin disappeared. Crap.
One of the new demons and his son were the fighters. Perfect, just perfect. "Stop!"
He trudged out onto the small arena. "Sayuka! You should be back at the castle! Why in the bloody world are you out here messng with demon hunters? Save your stength, you're going to need it for training tomorrow!"
He glanced at Rex. THis would take some explainin. "I...."
It was then his eyes spotted the blood. THe scent of it clearly stated that it had been a dancer, but it was slightly off. He breathed it it in, discerning that it was a girl. It had also been on Caesar's body before......... and the scent was also coming off of the demon girl.
His eyes widened then turned blood red. "HOW DARE YOU!"
His body moved before he had a chance to stop it. His clothes billowed in the wind as did his midnight hair. His robotic hand became sharper as the ground beneath Sayaka rose up and swallowed her feet. His normal hand found its place on the girl's neck as he put pressure on it, quite a lot of pressure. This brought up way too many bad memories, ones that were long buried. He scowled as brought his hand of metal to her face. "No more. We are at a war and you choose to go and hurt innocents. She wasn't even an enemy, just a bystander. I swear to whatever deity or spirit listening that if you ever do something like this again, I will kill you without hesitation. ARE WE CLEAR?"
---
Ironicly, the Spirit of Death was watching the scene with a veiled interest. It seemed that there was another soul to be claimed here if it was to be expected. He smirked. A pact made was not to be broken, especially if a soul was involved. Bones gave a quiet chuckle, then lifted his lantern, the pulsing soul beneath it, newly deceased.
(Couldn't help it, I really need to get my muse back for Bones and thought that it would be alright for him to be observing. And, is ANri really dead?)

(ooc: yeah she's pretty much dead)
Rex stared in shock at the newcomer. He remebered him before. Van Kleiss. That was his name. Where had he come from and why was he here now? So the demon had a name...it was Sayaka. The blue haired girl however didn't seem to mind the idea of a higher demon beating the snot out of her.
"She was not an innocent bystander." she snapped. "She was a witch, you know very well they are all responsible and if they start a fight then it is my job to defend myself." the eyes burned with rage. "I am going to take all of them down and there's nothing you can do to stop me Van Kleiss."
Goodness did everyone know this guy's name. Rex flinched at the swear, it wasn't very uncommon that it had happened. But other demons killing other demons seemed strange to Rex.
"Those are just empty words, just like that demon hunter's over there" Sayaka spoke again, as Rex fell on his knees to take a few deep breaths. "He thinks he can save everyone, well this time he arrived too late didn't he?"

(Oh God, you don't know how much I want to beat the snot out of this little twit.)
Van Kleiss bristled with rage. "She wasn't a witch. She was a dancer you fool! All they do is summon us and the Spirits!"
His hand moved on its own, forming a slap across the girls face. Van Kleiss wasn't one to be trifled with. The whites of his eyes darkened into a black while his red irises became alive with a crimson glow. The earth around his feet began to bubble and take on a more liquid form as his anger produced a volcanic heat. His scowl showed canines that started to lengthen. THere were two sides to every coin. And this side was the rage of the earth-controlling demon. When it is released, the pent up magma under the earth's surface becomes alive with a furious vengeance. Fire and rock go together closer than one thinks. He pulled her closer to him, his robotic hand grasping her throat now, this time, becoming sharper and cutting little slits into the girl's skin. His mouth spoke by her ear. "You have just killed my son's love and you shall pay, regardless of what I just promised you. You think you killed a witch, but it was your mistake, a fatal one."
Spikes of rock came protruding from the ground around him, barely missing the girl's body. His face became a mask of stone as a giant one started to form right beneath her feet, then stopped. He told the earth to let her go and as it did, he threw her away. "If I ever see your face again, I will not hesitate from giving you this same treatment. I will not kill you yet, you are needed in the front lines. But let me assure you. I will haunt you for the rest of your spirit forsaken life."
He remained there, still looking as if he were about to kill the girl.
----
Bones watched with an undisguised interest. This was new, a demon sticking up for a simple witch. Perhaps there was more to the darkness than he thought. He gave a glance at his lantern still holding the elemental dancer's soul and thought long and hard. He shrugged, then disappeared into the darkness.
(So, what are your plans for ANri then? Just death? Because I have a small idea....)

Rex slowly stood up and made his way over to the two. "What do you mean...she was a witch?" he asked slowly. "She was an elemental dancer. That's all right.." his eyebrows were knit in confusion. "Witches can't do that can they?"
Sayaka just smirked up at Rex. "What you think just because you are a demon hunter you know everything about everyone." she asked wiping the dirt from her dress. "She was a witch, and i only know this because i've killed hundereds in my time. If you had been there sooner then you would have seen her powers. She has lightning abilities, or should i say had lightning abilties." she shrugged her shoulders before putting her sword away.
"and i don't see why it matters who i kill and who i don't, after all if i help win the war for the demons then i shouldn't really be beaten up on." flipping a strand of hair back out of her face she turned to walk away but not before looking at Rex. "You might not be a witch demon hunter, but i am going to look forward to spilling your blood as well."
Rex just stared in shock. This girl even as a demon had no respect for human life at all. and what did she mean hundreds. She was only 14 or at least looked that way. How. Anger was the only thing he was feeling right now.
Anri was dead and it was all his fault. He turned to Van Kleiss not sure what to make of this, Sayaka's demonic pressure still pained him, much more than any other. Insanity gripped him like a knife and he was sure that she was insane.
(if you have an idea then go for it.)

Van Kleiss stared at the girl as she walked away. He wanted to kill her so badly, she wasn't that different from the ones thatfeared his abilities and struck where h was most vulnerable, his family. They had payed the price and she would too, once Eris allowed him to do what he wished. His robotic hand sparked as he curled it into a very tight fist. Without anywhere to direct his anger, he demolished a nearby tree with a single punch, watching it fall into the shadows. "How dare they!"
He turned to his son, his child with a cold heart. His appearance returned to normal quickly as he slowly walked towards the boy. "I am deeply sorry for you and your brother's loss. I will do whatever I can to set it right. We may be at war, but that gives no excuse to one of my sodliers to go around killing whoever they please. I guess you didn't know earlier, but I am a demon as well and, seeing how you're a hunter, didn't wish to cause you any harm."
He approached his son carefully. This was a very emotional time and he couldn't risk any break-downs that could harm the boy. "Rex, I guess you can't trust me very well as that is, but I will say something. Your mother is-...... was a very close friend of mine."
(Well, Bones needs an assistant and an elemental dancer would do the job well......)

Rex shook his head slowly. "I didn't know her too well, Casear did. He treated her like a sister so its going to break his heart when he hears that she died." the rest of it seeemed to go down on cold words. Except for the part of knowing his mother. This man was a demon, why should he trust him? But at the same time...demons couldn't lie.
"You knew my-our mom?" he asked, his voice above a whisper. "What was she like?"

Oh boy. This would be a very long conversation. "Well, she was kind, sweet but had a very explosive temper."
He gave a small smile as the good memories came flooding back. "She was mostly friends with everyone. She was all grins when it came to business and had a terrible knack for cooking sweets. She loved a good joke, but groaned at the bad ones."
He sat down on a nearby tree stump, motioning the boy to do something similar. The moonlight uncovered by a moving cloud, he resumed his story. "It was through her job that we met. She was a demon dancer, similar to your friend Anri. She was trying to practice one day and wound up summoning me. It was an unusual relationship at that point as I had to serve her every wish as she had no intended purpose for me at the time. It only took a few months before she got tired of me and let me go do whatever I pleased. I stuck around though, we had become good friends over a period of time."
He leaned back and gave a small frown. What could he tell next without revealing his true identity? "You may be wondering how she died....."
(So, how about it? Anri = Bone's new assistant?)

"I never knew that." Rex said slowly taking a seat. "I mean i knew she was a lot like me, everyone said that. Casear, and Xia but...i never would have suspected a demon dancer." he shook his head at the next question. "I know how she died. Providence told me that she and my father died in an explosion from a science experiment years ago."
(I don't see why not)

Van Kleiss raised an eyebrow. Providence? The scientific secret organization? Why would they want Rex? He was just a kid! But, he did have a knack for finding demons. COuld he have the demon sense? He stroked his chin then launched into another explanation. "THat is mostly true, but it wasn't an accident. Demons sabotaged the experiment. Your mother died in your father's arms while he died killing the demons responsible."
He shook his head and cleared his throat. It was the truth, he died that day and had become a completely different person. He had to pretend that he didn't know Providence to get the truth. "But, you said that you were told this by Providence? Who are they and why do you know them?"

Rex raised an eyebrow for a moment, not sure really if he should say anymore. "Well, i work for them. I ran off from the orphanage i lived in as a kid and well a demon almost attacked me. That's when Providence came into the picture. It's not a big deal but they thought i was special. Considering i could sense demons whenever i was around them." he shrugged his shoulders. "They were kind of like my second family, until Casear came along."
He wasn't even sure why he was telling this demon all of this but it was the one way he could find out anything about his mom. At the shocking truth about his mom...he paused at his next question, trying to word it right.

A second family? He could live with that. But it seemed that Rex did had the demon sense after all. Demons could always tell their own. COuld that mean....? Was the power dormant? Van Kleiss stood and looked down at Rex. His eyes flashed red for a moment, his power scanning that of his son's.
It seemed that there was nothing there, only the ability to sense demons. A useful tool when hunting down the undesirable ones. He cleared his throat, then looked away. It was tough looking at the boy, he reminded Van Kleiss of his love. He looked so much like her. He shook his head. He opened his mouth to speak, then decided against it. He couldn't tell Rex, not now, not ever.
"You know, your brother is going to be quite disheartened."

Rex nodded his head slowly at the second statement. "I know, like i said, Anri may have been a brat but for some reason she really liked Casear, not sure why. She didn't have a family that i know of so maybe she saw him as a older brother. Telling him would be difficult for me since i don't live there..."
He grimmiced a bit at the idea of seeing his brothers face with the news. "He already hates demons enough as it is, so hearing that one of your own killed her is going to make him really upset and well kind of pissed." he shook his head for a moment.
"It's...odd." he replied flincing from the scar Sayaka had left. "When i feel your demon pressure i don't sense anything really terrible, rage, regret and sadness. and a lust for power." he stared back at the sky. "But when i felt Sayaka's, which i can still feel. It was filled with hatred, bloodlust and...insanity. It wasn't pretty..."

Van Kleiss just cocked his head to the side. How strong was this boy's demon sense? Usually, all you could really do with it was tell when others are close by, but this one could sense emotions? And perhaps, the auras? Strange, very strange.
But, like a blind man, that demonic power must've been focused upon for so long, that it became stronger over time. That could explain it. He turned away to look up at the sky. "You should really look at their emotions more often. It usually could explain their reasons. And did you hear her words? 'Their fault? I won't stop until every last one of them is dead?' I've heard that kind of talk before."
He remained silent for a moment before speaking again. "Your father was screaming those words as he slaughtered the demons responsible for your mother's death. Sayaka has experienced something on the same level, something so heart-breaking, it has driven her to insanity."
His thoughts turned to what his son spoke of him. Rage, check. Regret, check. Sadness, check. Lust for power........... check. Although, he may have to change his previous methods. He was already pretty high up on the scale and couldn't get any higher. And Eris...... she needed him by his side. But did that mean that he had to quit climbing the ladder..... perhaps not. After all, he would get even more power if he.... no, he already did that once and it produced a child in which he did not know about. He gave a small sigh.

Rex nodded. "Believe me as much as i would want to, i can't stop myself from doing it. It is kind of like a force. I feel their pain almost, its like hearing screaming from nowhere. When they are gone, its almost like they are thanking me for...putting them out of their suffering." He shook his head, he couldn't think about that right now. "I suppose that sounds stupid right? A demon hunter feeling remorse for killing a demon?"
He gave a small smile and winced again. He wasn't expecting the sword to hurt so bad where it did but it was worse than he expected. He decided not to have the demon worry or at least (to his paranoia) a chance to attack. "you said you knew my mom...her demon dances. What were they like? Did she draw attention?" the real question Rex had been wanting to ask was he a lot like her...but that was something else that would have to wait
