(ooc: July 6th, at the same time as Sound the Drums of War. Open to all who would be in the Kingdom of Light that didn't go to fight in the huge battle. Of course, those coming back from the battle are welcome too.)
It was awful. Terrible, even. Ion couldn't even begin to comprehend what they were facing. Proteus had gone off to fight and had left him in charge. That much he was okay with, but he didn't like that Proteus was gone. What if something happened to him? What if he ended up injured? Ion was only a young angel. He didn't have the greatest healing abilities in the world! Sure he could help with demon blood if someone was poisoned, but he wasn't an expert. It was a very unsettling feeling for Ion knowing the head angel was gone.
Ion had taken to pacing about a balcony in an attempt to calm his nerves. It didn't help him much, though. His wings were twitching nervously and every so often Ion found himself glancing up to see if Proteus was coming back. Again and again he was met with the same disappointment; Proteus was still gone. At length, the green-haired angel let a long sigh pass his lips and he folded his arms against the top of the balcony. He let his head rest against his arms and closed his eyes.
"Why did this have to happen? It would have been so much simpler if that meeting had gone over better." Ion murmured. Why couldn't the different races just learn to get along? Why couldn't whoever had killed Giselle have just stepped forward? It bothered Ion. Not nearly as much as the fight at hand, but it bothered him. "Please come back, Proteus." he murmured.

(ooc: Proteus is in the battle, just using his account until i get Helia's made)
Helia having only just arrived the day before the battle had begun noticed the worry in Ion's eyes. He hated the war as much as the younger boy did. Not only had he arrived a day before the first battle but everyone and everything had been tense. "Death is simply one that people cannot forgive so easily." the green haired boy muttered. "We just have to do our best in keeping people safe from harm."
---- Proteus had not exactly been invovled with the fighting thus far, he had merely come to observe over the battlefield if anyone needed help. He was still in range of his Kingdom, the prince however did not like what he saw. Lives were being thrown away like broken down toys, and it hurt his heart more and more to see this.
He had to put a stop to it. "If anyone needs me, i will be out on the battlefield." he said loud enough for them to hear. "There are things i have to do."

"But why did Proteus have to go out there?" Ion asked. The former Fon Master didn't like it one bit. He felt so helpless just standing there. There was the idea of going out to at least see how the battle was going, mainly sitting at the back of Ion's mind because he had the horrible feeling that someone out there had been seriously injured, but he didn't want to act on it. Well... that was only partially true. Ion did want to act on it, but he'd been put in charge. He couldn't just leave the kingdom just like that.
"I just wish I knew how things were going out there." he said. It was a horrible feeling, really. There he stood as safe as could be while others were out in those woods being torn apart... or worse. Killed. He shuddered involuntarily at that thought. It was war, and Ion did know that, but he didn't want anyone to die. Not when they had so much potential.

"Ion! Relax pal. Everything's fine!" Genie said randomly appearing next to the young boy. Genie was very supportive of Ion's feelings but having the kid worry like this was worrying for the big man himself. It killed him to see his allies in worry. In fact he hated this feeling. If Ion would feel better then things would be peachy.
"Proteus will be back before you know it" Genie replied again giving a wink

Ion glanced back at Genie and smiled a tiny bit. The big blue fellow did have a point. He was probably worrying over nothing. But still... he couldn't shake the feeling that something horrible had happened to someone. "I don't know. I wish I could be as confident as you, Genie. I just have this feeling that something awful's happened, and we're just standing here not doing anything about it." he admitted. It was a bit silly, he did admit, but he really did want to try and help. The trouble was that he couldn't. He was only one angel. He couldn't do much on his own.

Genie pondered about that. The kid wanted to help. Well so did he but someone had to keep an eye on things. Hey maybe that'd encourage him!
"Actually I really think we ARE helping. Staying here protecting this place. It'll prevent anything from actually happening. We're doing something just not out there" Genie replied, moving Ion around to see where the war was being held. He was smiling patiently as he did

At length, the green-haired angel gave a little nod. Genie had a point. Proteus had put him in charge for a reason, after all. He was the adviser, and therefore knew what he was doing. Plus they were protecting the kingdom. It was unlikely anyone would actually attack it, but Ion did feel good knowing that he was at least helping keep the very small group of angels safe. "I guess you've got a point." Ion said. But what were they supposed to do while they waited? He did feel rather useless just standing around. "But what are we supposed to do?" he decided to ask.

Genie gave a big grin. He knew exactly what to do. He could probably make Ion laugh. That was his thing. Making his friends laugh "I'll give you a free magic show while we're waiting"
Before Ion could protest, Genie put a magician outfit on and showed a box along with holding a saw. The box had a doll woman inside who was patiently waiting for the trick. He gave a wink and replied "Trust me I know how to do this type of situation"

Ion watched with a sort of confused look on his face. In all the time he'd been alive, he'd never seen a magic show. Probably because he'd been a rather sickly thing as a child and hadn't had much of an opportunity to get out on his own. So he didn't quite know what Genie was planning to do. It did, however, get his mind off of the troubling battle occurring in the woods. For that fleeting moment, Ion was able to forget that anything had gone wrong. The battle seemed so distant, in fact, that there was more than a hint of a smile appearing on Ion's face. A little laugh followed.
"Are you sure you know what you're doing?" Ion asked teasingly. His wings finally seemed at rest. They folded in gently at his sides as his arms crossed and a sort of teasing look appeared on his face. Genie was a big goofball. That much he had figured out from observing the way he had interacted with Proteus behind the scenes. But goofballs were good things. Ion, at least, appreciated that Genie was trying to help.

"Absolutely positive" Genie replied again with a hint of teasing back. Genie was seeing that Ion was indeed getting better, that was a good sign on Genie's part. Genie snapped his fingers and drumrolling came into the background. He got his saw and carefully was cutting the box with the fake woman inside in half. Hopefully he wouldn't screw up like he did wih that blasted face-sucking flower. That was a big embarassment. So once he completely cut the box in half he showed the two halfs to Ion "See?"
