(July 4th, for me and Apha.)
Garrett sat alone in his seat made completely out of shadows. He staff floated in the hostly hands of what seemed to be some kind of creature. But, it was his own shadow, the one that followed him everywhere. It was nice, having someone like that on your beck and call, but it really sucked at conversations.
He brown hair hung in front of his eyes, almost reaching his nose. It probably needed cutting, but he really didn't give any kind of crap whether or not someone should take a knife to it. The sound of footsteps resounded through the courtyard. It was accompianied by a sort of clacking sound. Claws? "No use sneaking up on me, it's near impossible!"

Alpha strode up to the man. His head hung low but once he was in the light he lifted his head slowly. "Greetings." Alpha said in his low voice. He could finally talk without his collar. "I am Alpha." The pincher said bowing his head.
Alpha lifted his long snout into the air and took a small sniff of the air. "What is your name, wizard?" He asked letting his eyes come in contact with the man's.

Garrett raised an eyebrow. His shadows told him that it was some kind of animal, most likely canine by the outline. He nodded in return. "My name is Garrett."
He cocked his head as he realized that the dog was looking him in the eye. What a surprise that would be when it found out he was blind. "So, Alpha, what are you doing this late at night roaming the courtyard?"

"Well, I am here to find my new master." The pincher said. "I was told I was to be a familiar." Alpha said letting his ears stick straight up. "Would you know anyone who could be of assistance?" He asked tilting his head.
Being away from his pack was strange. He missed yelling at them and barking out orders. In this new life, maybe leading a pack was not his purpose.

A familiar? "You mean those animals that help humans with their magic?"
His thoughts turned to that of the other students and how suddenly, they all seemed to be getting pets one by one. Perhaps, they weren't pets at all. Then, his mind shifted to another theory. Someone told the dog he was to be a familiar. Could someone actually be sending them these animals on purpose? "I don't really know if anyone needs one. Also, I'm pretty sure that the witches wouldn't like you very much on account of your fierce exterior. I'm doubtful that any of the wizards would particularly care for you either, they all seem to be quite the nervous bunch."
He shifted in position and tapped his chin. "So, who told you to come here?"
