Rex looked at the hand for a moment before taking out his hand off the blade. It was lucky for him that he was wearing gloves. He wouldn't share the problem with Thrax. The idea of sharing his name was better than shaking hands, and it was strange. Out of all the demons he met, this one wanted to introduce himself.
"Name's Rex." the teenager said with a shrug before giving the hand in front of him a small maybe 1 second shake. the next statement made him laugh. "Oh, really, then i must be special because i don't plan on dying today."

Thrax smirked. "We'll have to see about that. Now, since it's my arena, I'll let you have all the time you need to prepare yourself. That little spat wasn't nothing yet."
He backed up to the far corner of the twnty-five yard arena and waited. He reached into the inside pocket of his coat and brought out a small water bottle, a pot, and some instant coffee. He emptied the coffee and water into the pot and held it over the flames of the arena, letting it boil. He held it there for a few seconds before bringing it back in, steam rising from the coffee. He set it down on the ground and reached into the pocket once more, this time producing sugar and some cream, putting it both immediately into the bevarage, then leaning down to stir it with his dagger finger. He picked up the pot once more and held it to his lips, taking in the boiling mixture. He stoped drinking for a moment and offered it to Rex. "You want any? It's decaf, but I make it a little sweet."

"You know, i find it very weird that you and i are about to fight to the death, and you are offering me coffee." Rex said with a chuckle but shook his head. "You know, you are different than most of the demons i've fought. They have never once talked to me, or offered to introduce themselves. In fact they never talked."
He glanced around at the fire in the forest. "The werewolves are going to be very ticked off by this."

Thrax chuckled. "That's because kid, those were just a bunch of random animals that fate decided to screw with. The real demons are the ones that used to actually thinl for themselves and were able to talk. All it did was take away our real mortality and give us a bunch of powers. Take me for instance. I once was a small germ spreading a sickness like the Black Plague. Now, I'm way bigger, have a jacket with a bottomless pocket, and the ability to use real fire to bend at my whim."
He swigged down the last of the coffee and sighed in content. "That's some good joe. Screw the werewolves. My job is just to watch the vamps and report back to Eris every once in a while. I was doing that until some rock came out of nowhere and scared off the ones I was watching. Anyways, this is just a little break and I need a good duel."
He got up and cracked his knuckles. "You ready kid?"

Rex blinked. Eris? He had never heard of her. But judging by the way they spoke of her, she was important. "So you're her dog?" he asked. Maybe that thought should have stayed in his head rather than outloud.
Glancing back at the forest, he smirked. "Bring it on. I'm not scared of demons, even if they are more powerful than the ones i've fought."

Thrax chuckled. "That's a good one kid. But no, I'm just one of her soldiers in her ever growing army. You see, there's a reason why they call her the Queen of Demons. I needed to jump on the bandwagon or get on her long list of enemies. But enough about that."
He loosened his stance and brought his hands up, ready for the fight. "On the count of three, you can start counting."

Rex didn't understand demons and their logic so he supposed it was better that he didn't question it. The idea of fighting hands on with a demon was kind of weird and not comforting especially in his situation but there didnt' seem to be any other choices.
"Okay, if you insist." rex said bringing up his hands. "One...two...three!"

Thrax ran forward, his dagger finger starting to drag along the ground, leaving a trail of flame behind. His other hand suddenly open and fire burst from it, creating a very large sword that seem to be made out of magma and heated up rock. "You know kid, being a demon with control over fire is a very nice occupation. Things get heated up real quickly!"
He jumped up, swinging the blade and dagger finged down at the same time. Try to dodge this...

Rex coughed slightly as the fire burned through the woods. He was sure that this was going to draw attention but he didn't care as long as this demon got out with a few scars to boot and as long as he stayed alive it would go rather easily.
He was surprised by the sudden attack that he barely dodged, part of his jacket ripped along with the sleeve of his shirt. Great. Now i have to replace another one Jumping to his feet, the boy panted before pulling out two small daggers, rubies in the handle of both. Taking a step backwards, he threw one of them in Thrax's direction before running at the demon from behind

The knife flew by Thrax's head, leaving a very long line of blood up his cheek and to his ear. He brought his hand up to investigate it and chuckled. "Pretty good kid."
He whirled around, blade coming up to block the sword coming at him from behind. He broke the contact and stepped back. "But not good enough."
His magma sword came forward, flames growing as it gained speed. The tip of the blade started to meet with Rex's chest......

Knowing that it would not look good as of now, Rex dodged a little too late. Blood came down from his chest just a little. If he didn't do something fast, he was dead. But what could he do? Blades were not working, and he doubted a gun would do any better. He wished that there was a witch or someone near by to help him.

Thrax chuckled and swerved left, his blade swinging in the same direction. He lunged forward, his foot finding its way behind the demon hunter's and pulling it back. The result was a tripping teen. His free hand came forward and grabbed the boy's shirt. "As I said before, you're good,"
He pulled on the shirt and then slammed the body into the dirt. "But not good enough."
He stood up straight and brought his foot down onto the kid's chest. His sword was suddenly inches from one of the most vulnerable points on a human body, the neck. The fire was making so much heat now, it would surely give the boy third degree burns if it touched skin. "So kid, any last words?"
(Hope this isn't too godmoddy....)

(uh, it kind of is, but i can work with it actually, funny because i imagined this happening while at my job interview so it was funny that it happened. Just don't make a habit of it.)
Feeling the heat, Rex refused to lose his cool and smirked at the demon. He didn't really care how this battle ended up but the teenager was sure that he was not about to die that easily. "Yeah, anyone ever tell you about breath mints? Because you could really use one."
Slowly the boy reached down to his pants and brought out a knife to the demon's chest and slashed it. 'By the way, I never come unprepared, even when fighting a demon!" rex smirked. "So it would be wise not to underestimate me because i'm a kid!"

The knife slashing was surprising. Thrax took a few steps back and let go of his fire sword, bringing a hand up to his chest and checking the blood that come out of the wound. He looked up at Rex. "Wow, you actually got a hit."
He threw off his jacket, then his tan shirt to see the cut. He looked down at the clothes by his foot. "Great, now I have to get somebody to patch that up for me."
The large hole in his chest started to get smaller and smaller before finally closing up, leaving not even a scar behind. He picked up his blade and let it rest on his shoulder. "So, ready for round two?"

Rex smirked. "I told you, don't underestimate me just because I am a kid. I am the best at my job." As far as Rex knew he was the only one with this job. He knew of a vampire hunter but no demon hunters beside him. The forest would burn down if things got any worse but he couldn't let this demon go running free.
"Whatever man, let's get this over with."
