With Polka's words, Astrid turned back into a human, taking a step back. Her lips in a think line. "Charming frined you got here. " She nearly growled. He was one cocky teen. Finally getting what he, and Polka meant... Astrid turned on her heel and continued to walk. Correction cocky teen was VERY cocky. For some reason, Astrid had a great desire to knock the teen down one or two levels. Though she kept ahead, calling back over her shoulder, "If he's coming, he's keeping up." The raven haired teen seemed to be awful lucky having wandered into the forest without getting into nearly as much trouble as the group of three. What ever happened to safety in numbers when a single black haired soul was able to get to their farthest point unscathed? The world was a odd place. Especially the forest. Though they were friends.
"Better question, how's he still alive?" Astrid's attitude might have made Polka feel better.... The blonde was actually very hostile on first meetings. Screw first impressions. The blonde, in full human, pointy armor, was still an intimidating, viking figure. At least, she hoped so. She also hoped she wasn't getting too soft, which didn't seem to evident. Though the jealousy experienced earlier and the hostility now and early were also indications that she'd yet to become soft. At least on the outside.
Polka had called him Wilbur. Also an odd name she'd never come across. Though in Berk a normal name was a strange name. "And it seems you can't stay here without getting another on edge." The blonde muttered to herself, rolling her eyes. The castle Hiccup and Polka lived in seemed to have quite the characters. Polka and now this teen? A large variety of personalities. It was odd, at least in Astrid's opinion. The two others probably didn't see it as too weird, but in Astrid's seclusion and only knowing the personalities of the Berk teens, which were somewhat similar, it was odd. Though the boy reminded her a tad bit of Snotlout, but more intellectual and he probably wasn't as strong as the burly viking boy.

"Really, Wilbur, it's nothing! We were only spending time together. Hiccup wasn't hogging anybody." Polka said quickly. She didn't really want to say anything else, though. Flustered girl was beginning to grow much more flustered with each passing moment. How did Wilbur always manage to maintain such a calm, cocky air about him? It was perplexing. Without another word, she decided it would be best to follow after Astrid. She had no idea if Wilbur would want to come with them or not, but she did want to keep going on their exploration.
The more she thought about it, Polka began to realize that the personalities of the teens in the castle were quite diverse. Reclusive kids like her and Mami, cocky kids like Wilbur, and then there was Hiccup. He was just... Hiccup. Polka shook her head a little at that thought. How had Hiccup managed to survive with this group for so long? Polka didn't get to answer her mental question. Astrid's question of how Wilbur had survived had caught her interest.
"Maybe Wilbur just got lucky? It has been rather quiet out here so far... barring the few mishaps we've had. He might not have encountered any trouble." Polka suggested.
----
"Oooooh..." Hiccup just gave a nod, the sort of nod he would give Gobber when he was pointing out 'what was wrong with him', before letting his good hand go to his side while his right arm just sort of stayed where it was. "You think that just because the girls at the castle are giving you a hard time that means you can just waltz out here and do as you please." Hiccup said. Did Wilbur not know that there were dangerous things out in the woods? Dangerous things that could very well attack cocky wizards like him? Hiccup was beginning to have his doubts about whether or not any of his friends from the castle took things seriously.
"It's not all fun and games out here, you know. Ignoring the fact that there are dangerous things out here isn't good for your health." Hiccup said. He realized that Polka and Astrid were pretty much leaving them behind by that point, and since he didn't want to get left he decided he might as well get his butt in gear. "Come on. If you're going to hang out with us, then you've got to keep up." Hiccup said. He was essentially repeating what Astrid had said, but who really cared by that point? The redhead just wanted to relax and prove somehow that he wasn't bad luck. So the crippled teen began to trudge after Polka and Astrid, hoping that Wilbur would take the hint and follow along.

"That's what they all say Polka." Wilbur said with a smile. "That's what all the ladies' men-" he was about to say more when he heard Hiccup's last words. "Hey Hey hey! Don't you go thinking the idea that you are better than me. Just because you've fought dragons." he replied. "Because that's all luck. You see these babies." he flexed his muscles. "These babies are called muscles. and i bet i could do magic around your butt any day of the week."
He gave Hiccup a joking smile. "But i would hate to make you look like a pansy in front of the ladies here."

"Hey Hey hey! Don't you go thinking the idea that you are better than me. Just because you've fought dragons."
Hiccup froze. When had he ever said he'd fought dragons? Unless Wilbur was mistaking his encounter with a demon to be a dragon encounter. Or did he actually think that just because he came from somewhere where dragons were considered pests that he actually got to fight them? Time to clear up this little mishap before someone got the wrong idea. "Actually... I've only ever attempted to catch a dragon. Once. That was what led me to discovering my fire powers." Hiccup explained carefully. All because he had been freaked out by the prospect of being eaten by one Monstrous Nightmare. That event certainly hadn't led to Hiccup's life getting any better, that was for sure. "Trust me, if I thought I was better than anyone..." Hiccup started to say, but he trailed off when he heard what else Wilbur had to say about running laps around him with his magic. A big old frown formed on Hiccup's face as he let those words sink in.
Gee. Thanks for the confidence boost.
It was bad enough he considered himself one of the weaker pupils. He didn't need someone else pointing that fact out so bluntly. Bluntness was usually his thing, too. "You... you just keep telling yourself that." Hiccup finally said. It didn't have as much sting to it as he would have liked, but he did hope that his words at least left some kind of impact.

Wilbur frowned. "Now that is just rude." he said with a smile. Apparently Hiccup had never heard of a sense of humor before but oh well. Whatever caught this dude's panties in a bunch was beyond Wilbur. Besides, if anything, Wilbur did admire hiccup for fighting a demon. He was a little jealous. Not that he would say that to his face right now.
"Whatever man whatever."

"I'm sorry Wilbur, can you move those two twigs? I think they're covering your muscles... oh. Oops." The blonde had flipped around turning to look at Wilbur. In Astrid's mind, this was her forest, and she wouldn't let some cocky kid who thought he was the hottest thing go unnoticed. She'd have to knock him down a few steps and see if it sent him tumbling down the entire staircase. Astrid wasn't to friendly a character, and though she didn't abide by the rules of first impression, she normally judged. Though she'd normally stay out of conflict involving others. This kid rubbed her the wrong way. Astrid turned to Polka as she gave the lucky answer.
"Very lucky. Lucky I was busy and hadn't met him alone." She grumbled under her breath. "And kid, don't go picking on people who could burn your butt. Go ahead, piss him off." Astrid was standing up for Hiccup and Polka. She might've been one also to be considered she had little sense of humor. She did, just not many were able to draw it out. She didn't play word games or emotional warfare like others. Physical violence was better in her range of warfare. She was much more experienced in it and it felt more gratifying. One could normally break a spirit faster without the fear of provoking them into a rage with her type of fighting than emotional. It seemed to make sense in her head.
Astrid though, was entertaining the idea just ignoring the boy. She'd done it to others, why not now? "Keep up guys, I don't want to go chasing the creepy crawlers that might try and get you." Her voice was a mere growl opposed to the humorous laugh she might've used before. Maybe trying to intimidate the raven haired teen?

Who cared if it was rude? Hiccup could be as rude as he liked. He wasn't in a pleasant mood, that was for certain. The implication that he was a ladies man topped with what felt like another blow to his already low self confidence didn't exactly make for a happy Hiccup. He could have gone on a rant about that fact. Could have gone on for ages about that fact, actually. He simply chose not to. He merely nodded in response to what Astrid had said in regards to keeping up and began to walk along again. It didn't even feel worth it to try and point out that maybe he hadn't wanted to be involved in that battle anyway. Much less getting involved with Izaya.
As much as Hiccup wanted to keep thinking about the battle, there wasn't much else to think about in relation to it. Singing Astrid, trying to apologize, finding Izaya (or being found by him), and then after that... one big long blur interspersed by pain. That wasn't Hiccup's idea of a glorious thing. He was finally snapped out of his thoughts when he realized that Astrid was suggesting Wilbur keep making him irritated. Sooner or later, he realized, his fire might play up on its own with his emotions in play. Perhaps that was what she was trying to get at. Maybe it would happen...
...Nope. Hiccup didn't feel anything igniting within him. He must not have been in the right mood for it. "Just trust me. I'm not in a great mood right now. You don't want to push your luck." Hiccup finally said. His own sort of warning to keep his distance. Hiccup fully intended on trying to keep calm so he didn't ignite anything. He didn't want to set fire to something. Especially nothing near him. He had the luxury of being somewhat flame resistant, but only somewhat. There was still sort of a limit on what his body could endure in terms of his own flames, and would be one until he mastered his element. Even still, he didn't like to push his luck with his seemingly uncontrollable flames. One wrong move and he could end up charred.
Polka, meanwhile, was listening to what was being said. She didn't like the fact that Wilbur seemed to be poking fun at poor Hiccup. Obviously the redhead wasn't in a terrific mood. Why push his luck? "Let's just agree that right now we all need to improve our skills. No one here is a master of their element in terms of magic. Okay?" Polka finally asked. She was trying to be the peacekeeper. Not through violent means, of course, but she at least wanted to try and find a peaceful solution to the problem. Not even she would consider herself a master, even if she was more experienced with being a healer than the others might have known.
What Astrid had said in relation to creepy crawlies made Polka's skin crawl just a little. She didn't like bugs. Not at all. The idea that there might have been some that would come after them didn't settle that well with her. "You... don't really think anything will come after us, do you?" Polka asked.

Wilbur sighed and then after a moment nodded. He didn;t really mean to say all those things to Hiccup, he wasn't sure why he had said it at all, maybe he was just jealous. After all, Hiccup had been in battle and Wilbur hadn't. He turned to Polka. "I don't think anything will come after us if we stick together."

Astrid shrugged. If Wilbur thought he was right, let his dillusion thinking help himself. The girl kept walking, deciding not to turn to check on the group following behind her lengthy gait. "Any of you heard the saying 'the more the merrier?' I think that applies to what creepy crawlers think of us. Vampires and anything else out there." Her voice the tone of what might be heard by someone telling a particularly creepy, realistic ghost story. To bad the closest thing to a ghost story one could get here was reality. The blonde continued to shoulder past the underbrush, grumbling to herself. The more the merrier wasn't her idea of fun. Without looking back the girl decided to interrogate Wilbur further. "So Wilbur, how in the hell did you get this far from the castle without getting eaten?" She barked over her shoulder, pressing on and bounding ahead. Hostile blonde was hostile, and wasn't intent on changing her ways. Finally though, the trees broke away and thinned and the dapple of sunlight that shone on the forest floor became large patches. It was odd here, the ground more covered in dirt and sparse yellow grass, the trees leaves even less bountiful than the pitiful trees of the general forest. Though the sun was welcome, sure the girl could see pretty well in the dark, that didn't mean the others could. ((ooc: Crappy lazy post is crappy and lazy Muse is kind bleh today ))

Polka had to suppress a little whimper of fear as Astrid's words sank in. The light witch was beginning to wish that she had brought her umbrella with her, if only for the fact that she could at least provide a little protection for herself with it. As silly as it would have looked whacking enemies with it, she would have felt safer with it. But she didn't let on to this fact. Polka wanted to at least make it seem like she was somewhat braver than she really was. She was only beginning to realize that she had somehow let Hiccup trail behind her as she followed Astrid. The only indication of this fact was that she was having to get through the same underbrush that Astrid had gone through just moments before.
You're fine. As long as we're together, everything will be fine. Polka told herself. She winced just a little when she felt some sharp portion of the underbrush scrape against her legs. It was almost as if the world was trying to defy her thoughts. Once again, though, Polka remained silent in relation to that. She had wanted to know how Wilbur had gotten through the woods without running into trouble.
"I'd like to know that too, actually. How did you manage to avoid trouble out here?" Polka asked. Trouble had all but followed her, Astrid, and Hiccup the moment they had come together. Some people might have attributed that fact to Hiccup, but not Polka. Polka didn't think the redhead was cursed in that manner. He was just having a bad day. They all seemed to be.
At length, Polka stepped out into the sunlight and relaxed a little. Sunlight was a good thing in her opinion. It might help to keep vampires away, too. They didn't like sunlight... right?
----
"Gee, thanks guys. Thanks for totally leaving me behind."
Hiccup had actually begun to lag behind a bit more than Polka had thought. In fact, were Wilbur not with them he probably would have been bringing up the rear of the group. Silently, Hiccup wondered if he was doing that anyway. It was all because the day had worn on longer than he thought it would and the dull, throbbing pain in his leg wasn't exactly helping matters. But they had to keep moving. Hiccup knew that. If they didn't move, something out there would get them and that would be the end of it. He knew that somewhere out in the woods Snotlout lurked, and the werewolf probably wouldn't be as nice to him as Astrid was. Especially if he saw that he was crippled. That thought caused Hiccup to quicken his pace a little. This, however, was not a wise move since he didn't see the underbrush that Astrid and Polka had gone through. It also didn't help that he had chosen that moment to try and slip his injured arm back into his sling, so his attention really was diverted.
Hiccup felt his foot catch on something in the underbrush, and after a brief moment of flailing his arm about he fell forward into the underbrush with a great CRUNCH. "Oh, gods dammit!" Hiccup cried. Could this day have gotten any worse? He rose up from where he had fallen, brushing bits of underbrush off of his clothing as he retched his foot free of whatever he had tripped on and hobbled forward once more. "That's it. There's no doubt about it anymore. I'm some kind of unlucky." Hiccup said.

"That or the universe just hates you." Wilbur said with a smile. He hadn't meant for it to come out that way. "You aren't the only one that it has happened to, i mean all of our lives pretty much suck at some point. Weather we like it or not. We just have to keep moving forward."

"Trust me," Hiccup grumbled as he shook his prosthetic foot out just a bit in an attempt to rid it of bits of undergrowth. "I'm fairly certain the universe is out to get me at this point. It's either that or I'm just cursed in general." Hiccup said. It was beginning to seem like he was just cursed. Being born scrawny, losing his mother, being banished, seeming like he was the only Viking that had been affected by whatever had happened to gain magic over being a werewolf, losing his leg along with memories of what had happened in the only battle he had participated in, and on top of all of that he was slowly beginning to succumb to what seemed like a very long bad luck spiral. It was fairly safe to say that Hiccup hated his life.
"It's not even just today. It's been my whole life." he explained. One thing after another continued to happen in his life. There was no denying that it seemed like he was cursed. Sooner or later... well, what if he succumbed to this 'curse' and ended up losing his life because of it? Not a pleasant thought. "It only seems to have gotten worse because of this thing." Hiccup said as he gave his prosthetic leg another shake. This time it was a stronger shake and it seemed to be as effective as he had intended it on being. There wasn't any leftover undergrowth stuck to it. At length, though, Hiccup sighed and shook his head a little.
"How am I meant to keep looking forward if this stuff keeps happening to me?"
