Xia was still a little skeptical, it was impressive. Nodding slightly she looked at Viscis, "So if you are the spirit of Space how did you bring us to the future?"
She couldn't help it. It was her scientific nature to question things. To form a hypothesis for a theory and test it in anyway possible.

Viscis simply chuckled. Mortals, they were so.......... delightful. "Young Demon Hunter, this is just a simple seed compared to a mountain of what I can do."
He looked at the girl. The skeptic. She still seemed suspicious, but she was now willing to accept the fact he was a spirit. "Young psychic, you seem to have a terrible memory. When I introduced myself, I properly stated my title. I said I was the Spirit of Time and Space. Yes, it seems rather stupid to put only one Spirit in charge for such big elements, but what am I supposed to do? I fill out my purpose and that's all that matters."

"So, there are other spirits out there besides you?" Rex asked, turning sharply. Now that had his attention. Maybe this world wasn't as boring as he thought. "Can they do things like this?" he asked pointing at the scene before them. It almost seemed too good to be real but at the same time, Rex believed it

Viscis slowly turned and looked at Rex. He cocked his head. The believer was in true awe? Perhaps he thought that all the spirits could do were parlor tricks. He nodded. "Depending on what Spirit they are, some can do things such as this. But, as I am the most powerful, I can do it much more easier."
He gave a small snap of his fingers and the star seemed to grow larger even faster. It then turned from yellow to red to finally blue. Then, it imploded. Fire and plasma were diverted around them as he protected the group. He barely moved and it was over, the only remains of the Sun was the small proton star that shone even brighter than anything the humans had ever seen before. Unseen in his form, he gave a small smile.

"Well if you are the most powerful Spirit alive then why are there others?" the boy asked, the idea of having all the spirits confused and excited him. "I mean you can do it all right, why would you need others to help you?"
Brown eyes were filled with confusion as he tried to make sense of the idea.

Viscis just turned to the boy. "I am the most powerful as I control time and make sure all is running smoothly within the cosmos. It's already a hard job, do you really think I would be able to make sure water is the right salinity level or if earth has enough minerals for plants to grow? Besides, it's too much power for one being. you would have to be a god to be able to do all that. That's why we are called spirits, we're not gods."
He just stared at the demon hunter. Humans never ceased to amaze him. The about of philosophy and knowledge they can have and the potential for so much more astounded him. He shrugged. "Besides, they don't help me at all. We each have our own element in which we control. We are independent beings that occasionally clash heads. Such as if the Earth needs more land or water. Tidal waves would meet volcanoes. It's rather depressing as me and the others have to break those two up, Earth and Water. Even now, Darkness and Light are fighting over who will run the Earth."

"Huh. That sounds like a tough fight." he said, crossing his arms over his chest and stared around him. The question of something came to him afterwards. "Why would they want to rule the earth? Don't we need everything to be at peace. I mean sure right now there's us with different powers, and some of us think we are better than others. So why can't those two just recognize that you need everything and everyone to work together?"
Anri was a bit surprised to hear this out of the demon hunter's mouth but made no comment on it, so far to her, he just stood there to be all talk and to look good. There was a lot more to the boy than she realized

The Spirit of Time and Space shook his head. "Because that would be asking a sun like this not to explode. Unavoidable. The conflict between the two is as old as time itself. Earth is a coveted spot as it has all of the elements, but Light and Darkness especially. The reason why they fight is because if one happened to control it, the other could possibly be wiped out, forever. Peace? There are those who tried, but not even the Spirit of Peace herself can stop those two from butting heads. Currently, we are in the midst of the final battle. The other spirits have chosen sides and we are about to enter a deadly game. The only thing I can do is pick up the pieces and make sure that each side has a fair chance of winning. After all, it is my purpose to keep time balance, therefore, I must make sure that a balanced war there will be. No other variables."
He seemed to grow dimmer and smaller as he explained this, as it depressed him. It was his duty. He was neutral. He was the referee.

"That is a serious bummer..." Rex said. "Is there anything we can do?" it was a strange question, one that he probably shouldn't have asked, but if anything the boy was confident. "If i can take down a demon i beat i can stop these spirits from fighting."
Anri rolled her eyes. "You can't do that, it would throw everything out of balance, uh duh!"

Viscis just looked at the boy. Once again, human courage and naivety astounded him. He practically immortal, yet this still came as a surprise each and every time. "But that's how they do it."
He turned away. "I was the one who suggested this final battle. I did it because I knew if it didn't end now, it would go on forever. The way that they fight youngling, is by blessing mortals with their power. All spirits do it, so it's no real surprise. But, for each mortal that they have blessed, just means that there will be another casualty. The way we spirits fight is by pushing you in the right direction. If you kill a demon, it's a small victory for light. But, if it kills you, another win for darkness."
He gestured out before him, the many galaxies and nebulas spanning the universe. "All of this and he decided to use you as cannon fodder. I can't stop it because that's how it was supposed to go. You mortals are fickle things though, always coming back for more even if you're dead. I've seen ghosts, demons made from the souls of the deceased, and many times, a Spirit has died and been replaced by one of you. I guess that's why they chose you as their pieces."

"Why not just declare a winner," Xia said, "I mean. I get that it needs to be decided...it's just, it seems ridiculous. As for the balance it would be a shift, but wouldn't this battle ruin the balance anyways?" She couldn't help it. This actually for the first time, besides the whole demon queen nonsense, hurt her head to think about.

Viscis simply smiled. "Balance will still be held. You may not know how, but it will be."
He snapped his fingers and they returned to where they were previously, as if they had never left. The being made of stars stood there, waiting for their questions he knew were coming.

"So....what does this war have to do with us?" Rex asked. "I mean are we just plain chess pieces on the board waiting to be used in this plot." he kicked some of the dirt from the ground. "Hate to break it but i don't like that idea very much. Isn't there anything else you could do."

Xia nodded along with what Rex was saying. It was hard to wrap her head around the idea of being nothing more than a pawn in a game. She looked at Viscis almost wondering if he was going to kill them then and there.

Viscis looked at Rex. "There is nothing. For the one before me decreed it so, and I must follow his wishes. It's been like this since the beginning and will be until the end."
He looked at the three of them. In his eyes, each of them was just another loss of war waiting to happen. He blew a sigh out of his nearly invisible lips. He brought his hand up in a flat palm. He gave a small breath over it and three small crystals seemed to materialize right there. He looked at the small group and suddenly, the crystals flew at them, each one melting into their skin and lodging near their heart. "Consider that a parting gift."
