Garrett winced and held his ears. The alicorn had a very loud voice it seemed. He was blind, not deaf. The hermit turned his sightless eyes towards her. "It is not. I am simply Garrett and that is all I will be."
He stared at the image that kept popping in his mind, of that dark presence that she was before. He felt a slight pull emanating from Luna, as if something wanted to get out and was tugging at the bars and reaching out towards others. Perhaps, the presence was still there? Buried it may be, but it was still there. He shook his head. No, not possible. Two different beings could not share the same body.
He reached out with his shadow, letting it touch hers once more. He spoke to her, but in her mind, not out loud. Sorry Princess, but I kinda peeked at your memories. It was a new ability and I wanted to practice, but I think I may have seen more than I should. As a token of my sorrow, you can see mine as well. Is that appropriate for you?

Garrett whirled his head to the sound of the other voice. His shadows told him that it was a human male that was built like a twig. Long red hair with wide eyes. Strange heritage. His shadow went unnoticed as it reached forward and touched the young teen's. Images of a Norse town, burly vikings, and large flying creatures..... dragons? Then, the familiar feeling that compelled the hermit to become one in the first place. A fellow outcast. "Me? I'm simply Garrett. And you would be Hiccup of the city of...... Berk? Strange name, but what do you expect from vikings?" "Whoa, how did you know that?" Hiccup asked. No one knew anything about Berk outside of Berk, did they? Or was this guy just that good? He was mistaken thinking it was a city, though. That much Hiccup could say for certain. "I mean... you're right on both counts. I'm called Hiccup and I'm from the village of Berk." Hiccup said. Stunned Viking was stunned. How on earth had the dark wizard figured out that much? Actually, Hiccup wanted to know how he knew so much about all of them in general. It was strange.

Look into her memories? Luna had no clue one could ever do that. Her teal eyes blinked at what he said, not to mention only she could hear it. Truthfully, yes, it is appropriate. the alicorn replied back to the dark wizard. Just a peek in his memories gave her what she needed. An... equine? Not a pony, no, more around the size of Celestia. Horse. She shook her head, watching the incident that caused Garrett to go blind. No more. She needed no more than that to let go of the memories. Her ocean tinted eyes fluttered over to Hiccup.
"Viking? Pray tell, what may is a viking, thee speakest of?" Luna pondered aloud, tilting her head slightly as she looked at the twiggy teenager. Luna, being so new to human culture, had not a clue on what a viking was. A look of confusion enveloped her face as she looked at Hiccup.

"A Viking?" Hiccup repeated. For a beat he hesitated. He really didn't want to delve into his past, but the alicorn had asked an honest question. She clearly didn't know much about humans. Even if it pained him, Hiccup did need to explain. A little sigh escaped him and he closed his eyes for a moment, letting vivid memories of home flood him briefly. "Vikings are sea-faring people. We live on an island where it snows nine months out of the year and hails the other three. Vikings... are a stubborn lot. We've lived in Berk for nearly three generations now and almost every building is new. The only problems... well, we've got a bit of a dragon problem" Hiccup explained. The dragons had been causing problems for Berk for ages and still nobody knew why that was. Hiccup was beginning to think no one would know the answer.
"At least... that used to be my life. I lived the Viking life up until a while ago. See, I was kind of the odd one out in my village. To make a long story short... my father, the chief, banished me for being different." Hiccup said quietly. Vikings had always been a bit afraid of the unknown. Hiccup had crossed the line between the unknown and downright strange. Not only that, but he had also done a jig on top of that line and stomped on it. Repeatedly.
"But... what does that matter? I'm here now. My sob story's not so important."

Garrett knew that she had stopped watching after the first bit. Of course she would. He sighed, knowing that he had made her probably felt guilty now.
He shifted in his position. His brown hair fell in front of his eye, but he didn't care. It wasn't important as he didn't use them to see anyway. His attention turned to Hiccup, though he didn't show it as all he did was tilt his head slightly to hear him better. "Sob stories are the best kind, my friend. But, then again, so are the darker ones....."

Chief? Banishment? Luna was beginning to see parrellels between herself and Hiccup. He was pretty much royalty, and banished. Luna was royalty, and banished to the moon for a thousand years. The alicorn princess, however, highly suspected that they were for very different reasons. She had been cast away for threats of eternal darkness, becoming Nightmare Moon. He, on the other hand/hoof, was banished for being the black sheep of the herd according to his story. "We were banished. Banished many many years ago. Banished for such a long time. We... understand the pain of banishment. However... chief? Thou are son of a chief? A prince?" Luna spoke, deciding to change the subject of sob stories.
Now the subject was heading towards royalty. Luna had a nephew, a prince. Prince Blueblood. Not a very nice prince either, letting the royalty getting to his head. It was discomforting for the princess to watch a family member behave so... horrible. Not like royalty should act. Learning that Hiccup was a prince pretty much gave her hope that the newer generation of royalty wasn't stuck-up brats who had no respect for the people.

Hiccup had been about to address Garrett's remark about how his kind of story was one of the best, but Luna had spoken up and he listened to her. It seemed strange how the pair of them were so... similar. From her story, it sounded as if they were more alike than they had known. "Weird how we seem to be so alike, isn't it? It's like we're the human and pony equivalent of each other." Hiccup laughed. He definitely was starting to feel a little better now that the conversation was steering away from the painful part of his history. Though, when she asked of his lineage...
"Prince? Me? No... I don't think so." Hiccup replied. At least, Hiccup wasn't aware of any hierarchy in the society of Berk beyond that of a chief being the leader and him being next in line for that position because he was Stoick's son. Yeah... that had worked out well. "At least, they didn't treat me like I was anyone important. Mostly everyone just acted like I was always in the way and I couldn't do anything right. So... I don't think I was any sort of royalty. Not in that sense, anyway." Hiccup said.

"Ah. I understand what thee means." Luna replied to Hiccup when he began to explain that he wasn't a prince. Just the next in line. Not specially treated like a prince or a princess. Of course, when Discord was reigning, Luna wasn't treated like a princess. At all. The alicorn and her sister had to use the elements of harmony to stop him. It wasn't until then that she began earning special treatment. Hiccup's village wasn't a monarchy, so he wasn't given special treatment. Of course, according to Garrett's remark about vikings, it didn't seem like anyone had special treatment.
"Indeed, indeed, we suppose that what you say is true. We seem to be a bit alike." Luna said, deciding to change the subject once more, to Hiccup's remark of being the pony and human equivalent of each other. She shook her head with a small smile. "Perhaps we shall both become amazing magic wielders. Only time can tell."

Amazing magic wielders? Now that would be something. Hiccup was never considered anything more than an annoyance. The worst Viking that had ever graced Berk, at least according to some of the adults he'd grown up around. "Yeah... I guess we'll just have to see what happens." Hiccup said. He could believe that Luna would be amazing, but him? Well... that would be unlikely. But maybe if he trained with Gothel more... then maybe he could amount to something more than a failure.
"Do you know what Gothel's getting all of us together for? I haven't been able to figure it out." Hiccup said. The black-haired woman must have had some reason for wanting so many witches and wizards together in one place. She didn't strike him as the type that just would take them in out of the kindness of her heart. Or maybe she was. He might have just been judging her based on appearances. She'd taken him in, hadn't she?
