(ooc: All right, this takes place on July 8. Two days after the first battle. So no one is confused, Hiccup has acquired his prosthetic leg by this point. Open to all witches and wizards, but I would especially like to see Facilier and Rapunzel here. I will be bringing Gothel in later, but for right now I will be sticking with Hiccup until later.)
It was one of those moments where he really wished he could scrunch up into a tiny little ball, find a nice dark hole to hide in, and never come out. Hiccup had been missing from Black Castle for the past three days. The last time any witch or wizard had seen him was directly before the battle, and he had foolishly gone out to have alone time in the woods without realizing what was going on. Now... he had paid the consequences for his actions. Hiccup felt absolutely awful. For many reasons the teen felt this way. The first and foremost reason was the fact that he had essentially disobeyed Gothel by becoming involved in the fight without meaning to. The second reason was his current state of being.
He stood outside of Black Castle, emerald gaze fixed firmly on the ground, and definitely looked as if he had been to hell and come all the way back. Although they were hidden by his clothing, there were bruises on his back from being stomped on repeatedly. His right arm was resting in a sling and bandaged up tightly. Hiccup also appeared a bit paler than usual, mostly a result of being poisoned and almost dying, and as a result looked rather tired and run down. Finally... well, there was what he considered the worst consequence of his actions. Just below his left knee was what had used to be a part of him. What used to be flesh and bone was gone. In its place was what Hiccup could only describe as further proof that he was a screw up. Wood and metal. A prosthetic. As if Hiccup didn't feel bad enough about ending up in the battle in the first place, he would forever be reminded of his actions. Every time he walked - or hobbled as the case was since it was rather painful to walk right then - he would be reminded of how foolish he was. Hiccup hated that feeling.
What he really was dreading was running into anyone he knew. What would they even have to say about the fact that he had been gone for so long? How would they react to seeing his sorry state of being? As much as Hiccup didn't want to, he knew there was only one way to find out. He had to go back inside. "Well... here goes everything." Hiccup murmured.
He began to hobble toward the entrance, putting as much weight as he could on his right leg to keep it from being entirely painful, and silently wondered if anyone could see him coming closer to home. Hiccup hoped they wouldn't. He hoped he would be able to slip inside and go to his room without receiving much attention. That hope, however, was most likely about to be dashed as he pushed the door open.

Facilier slamed a wall in frustration. That annoying hiccup brat. Always going without orders. No wonder he got left at his own home, he just caused trouble. It was a pain to keep all these kids in order if one of them dared to question authority. "Damn it!" He shouted in anger. Oh if only that kid was here he'd wring his...
A opening of the door and out came hiccup... With a different leg. A dark smile escaped his lips. He wouldn't hurt him physically but emotionally... Gothel never said don't be too harsh on him. No rule, no problem. Facilier was very quick to hiccup and crossed his arms in a father-like fashion. He showed a sneer of sinister pleasure and replied sarcastically "Had fun? Where were you hiccup?"

Rapunzel had been more distraught than anyone else in the castle it seemed for the past 3 days. First there was a battle on the edge of the castle deeper into the haunted forest that she as forbidden to get involved in. Second, who she shamelessly considered to be her best friend (whether it was a mutual feeling or not) was missing. He'd gone and gotten himself into a fight no doubt, though she couldn't imagine it being intentional. From last she saw the boy could barely light a candle. So it was only reasonable for the long haired blonde to worry. Her emerald gaze was fixed outside the window, eyes anxiously searching for the werewolves who had brought Hiccup from the forest, injured. Maybe they had news? Maybe Hiccup was safe and just had to hang out in the woods for a few days? She'd grown accustomed to sitting in front of a large window at different times of the day at different windows. At first some wizards and witches would join her, see if they could be the first to spot the scrawny teen. After a few hours though, it seemed to get boring to all but the golden haired witch. So she waited, alone by a window. A figure miraculously appeared from somewhere out of her own sight.
Rapunzel's green gaze sweeping to the hobbling figure, trying to discern if was a mischievous Wilbur or truly Hiccup. With a rush of her dress, and swift feet, Rapunzel was flitting down the hall (no doubt tripping a few startled passerby's with her long hair). The girl was taking the stairs two at a time, almost tripping herself with the moment and lack of ground beneath her feet. Finally making it to the floor, and almost tripping herself, a creek of the door alerted her to the entrance of the teen. The poor kid never had a chance. Rapunzel was there in a heartbeat, arms wide open as soon as the door came open. Either good timing or lucky timing, or the golden haired girl would've had a mouthful of door.
"HICCUP! YOU'RE ALIVE!!" The girl happily cried, taking a step back, eyes dancing brilliantly, mouth twisted in a smile. It took a minute. A minute of happy sounds of 'EEEHHHSS' of various pitches. Than the golden haired girl took in his sallow, pale appearance. Concern took over her face as if she'd ripped off a mask. A finger flew up to her cheek as she surveyed him. He was paler than usual. His arm was in a sling, and he looked over all tired and sad. A big frowny face. Than as Astrid traveled to the reason he was hobbling she refused the gasp in her throat.
"Was it that werewolf? Did he find you? WAS my frying pan NOT enough for him to back off? Do I need to go and find the nastiest spirit spell and make him feel lower than dirt?" Rapunzel's emerald gaze was solid, and she meant every word. "UGH if I'd been there! If I hadn't listened to mother for once, ONCE, maybe I could've helped. i could've done something, I coulda stopped it from happening! I could've sent a ball of energy right at that no good wolves head, right between the eyes." Rapunzel exaggerated furiously, unintentionally using hand motions and flailing of her arms.
"Are you okay? Do you need anything? Anything I can do, get anything?" Rapunzel seemed intent on babbling, feeling more helpless than anyone with healing powers should. She should be able to do something, but she still had no true grasp of the extent of her powers. It was all so frustrating, though why should she be feeling so sorry about her self? HICCUP was the true victim in all this war. If she'd been there... with her frying pan WELL maybe things could've gone differently. At least, that was what the blonde thought.

"GAH!"
As one would have guessed, the scrawny, miserable Viking had no chance to avoid the encounter with Rapunzel. She'd practically thrown herself at him! However, he was glad to see who he considered to be his best friend right there. He did decide it would be a good idea to show how grateful he was to see her, and so wrapped his one good arm around her in a pseudo-hug. "Good to see you, too." Hiccup managed to say. He was definitely glad that she had been the first to arrive, even if his expression seemed to say otherwise. As he pulled his arm away, he caught sight of the concern on Rapunzel's face. He watched as her own green eyes darted around his figure, but before he could even begin to explain himself Hiccup found that he was being bombarded by questions. All relating to the one thing he hoped would go unnoticed.
Once Rapunzel finished asking question after question, Hiccup shook his head a little. "No... it wasn't Snotlout. I didn't even see him in the mess of what happened." Hiccup admitted. What had happened to his cousin turned werewolf, anyway? Hiccup had seen Astrid, but not Snotlout. Even though he hated to admit it, there was just a tiny bit of concern in Hiccup in regards to his cousin. "I... got in a fight with a demon. I didn't mean to! It just... happened." he explained. That Izaya was the reason he had ended up in his current state. Fractured arm, lost leg, and overall miserable appearance was all thanks to him. If Hiccup ever saw him again... well, he'd make sure Izaya paid for doing what he did.
"I know I should have come back sooner. I just... couldn't. There was nothing I could do." he said. He wanted to say more, or at least answer the questions of whether or not he needed anything, but the other presence finally caught his attention. Emerald eyes grew wide with dread, and Hiccup gulped a little as he looked over at the shadow man. It didn't take a genius to figure out that he was in trouble.
"Uh... hi. This... this wasn't intentional. I didn't mean to... to end up out there." Hiccup said. He was quickly beginning to doubt whether it was a good idea to return at all. If Facilier was there, he had no doubt that Gothel would be around to berate him sooner or later. For the moment, though, Hiccup would just have to deal with the fact that he was about to get some kind of punishment for vanishing as long as he had.

"I don't want you to talk! Shut it!" Facilier snapped. He clearly was irritated and wasn't happy about hiccup returning from a fight. Looking to rapunzel he replied "Look feel free to coddle the kid but do it at a better time. He needs to learn NOT to go out without ORDERS" Facilier came closer and pointed his staff at hiccup in a threatening manner "You. Are. Never. Allowed. Outside" Facilier said slowly. He clearly was pissed with the turn of events
"Typical of you to leave I'll admit and I actually am glad that you're not dead too but you know better. You SHOULD at least" Facilier rambled on. Then he sighed and calmly but sternly said "What do you have to say for yourself boy?"

Rapunzel let her draw drop and let it come back together again with a hard clench. A demon? It seemed the demon had now chosen his death sentence- death by golden blonde with frying pan and magical powers. She opened her mouth to speak some more (Like it really was necessary) but was interrupted by the abrupt scream of Facilier. And than there was born the pouty lip. She'd gone rigid, emerald gaze clearly not pleased with the adult... Oh hey wait a minute. Squaring her shoulders, the childish... 'adult' looked at the shadow man. Also clearly not pleased. She mad an unconscious movement, side stepping by Hiccup so if the shadow man did intend to poke Hiccup with the staff, she could at least try and intercept. The blonde kept her lips shut.
NOW he wants him to talk. The girl thought angrily in her own head, crossing her arms over her chest. Rapunzel knew she should silently obey Dr. Facilier, after all he was an acquaintance of Mother's... but she was Gothel's daughter. Though Mother really wouldn't enjoy having her name being taken advantage of. Facilier no doubt wouldn't fall for it either.
"He doesn't look to well, maybe it'd be best not to yell." Rapunzel hissed under her breath, eyes directed at Facilier's feet, her lips contorted in a childish scowl. She couldn't let her friend go down on a sinking ship alone now could she?

Facilier directed a sneer of tolerance at Rapunzel. He knew his boundaries were specifically on her but he didn't really like her very much. She was too soft, too nice. Facilier would have told her to shut up but the sneer pretty much said it for him. He looked back to hiccup and spoke a little bit more "Well? I didn't want you to talk til I was finished now I am. Anything you want to say now you can. It'd be wise for you to watch it you're in enough hot water"

Yeah... I could have done without the yelling.
Hiccup couldn't do much beyond letting the verbal assault wash over him. He really had nothing to say in his defense. Though Hiccup hadn't meant to become involved in the fight, as it had merely been bad timing on his part that he'd chosen to try and work out what had been a nasty limp right as a battle was picking up, he knew he hadn't made the wisest decision in sticking around in the woods when it had happened. He probably would have been better off going back to the castle instead of trying to reconcile with Astrid after he had accidentally singed her fur. But what was done was done. He couldn't go back and change what had happened.
As Facilier said his piece, Hiccup's expression seemed to turn just a touch more sad and his emerald gaze shifted to the ground. He felt bad enough without being yelled at. "It wasn't my fault..." Hiccup murmured. He hadn't even known there was a battle going on. How could he be in trouble over that? One thought did occur to him, though. It was Gothel's castle. Not Facilier's. Who died and put him in charge?
"You... you aren't the boss of me." Hiccup said. He could go outside whenever he wanted. All of the younger witches and wizards could as far as Hiccup knew. Who was Facilier to say otherwise? "And I never meant for this to happen. I didn't even know there was a battle going on. I went out there to try and work out the limp I had from an injury! ...Though... it looks like that was a bust." Hiccup's tone dropped to a low murmur when he touched on what was bothering him. The ever present reminder of his mistake. "I feel bad enough without being yelled at. Can't I just... rest a little?" Hiccup asked. He'd very nearly died before being brought to the angels to rid his body of the demon blood. He didn't want to endure anything else, even if he knew it was near impossible to avoid anything else that could have been thrown at him.
Hiccup was, however, still grateful that Rapunzel was there. She was the only reason he hadn't just broken down right then and there. He didn't want her to see him any more miserable than he already was.

Mami was probably in as much trouble as Hiccup, but she didn't have the artifical leg to show for it. She felt guilty, as a light witch she probably could have healed his leg before it got too infected. But it was said that only fairies or angels could be immune to demon blood so there probably wouldn't have been much hope.
She had spent most of her times the last two days, locked in her room, or even in the smallest corner of the library, nervous to face Gotehl and Facilier. "Can't you leave him alone?" she asked. "It wasn't his fault," her words were in murmured whispers but they were still audiotable.

Rapunzel crowed, clearly ignoring the silent 'shut up warning.' Her eyes turned to Mami as well... she'd gone to fight to hadn't she? Rapunzel was surprised though as Hiccup stood up for himself and called Facilier out. That took guts and obviously Hiccup had received them. Whatever had happened to Hiccup with the angels, had changed him somehow. Rapunzel stood, chest puffed out, chin tilted up, shoulder squared.
"He didn't want to fight. He got attacked by a demon, I think that's enough karma." Rapunzel spoke more quietly, changing from the pouting look to biting her bottom lip, her emerald gaze solid, though Rapunzel still wasn't to sure of what to think of her Mother's 'friend.'

(OCC: I know this is really mean but Facilier IS a cruelhearted jerk. Anyway sorry for the lameness if it has any. I'm a little upset so inspiration is cloudy)
Mami was only recieved a sneer from Facilier, it was one that could make anyone shut up. Then to rapunzel he only replied "I suggest you shut it Rapunzel. I'm aware he's injured so yes I'll stop shouting. You are right but I am your mother's assistant and like it or not I work with her so I can have the ability to speak. Merci"
Facilier did like Hiccup being brave enough to ask for it though. He was tempted to argue back but he didn't care if the teen was of no fault. Mistakes he made were there and everyone knew it so Facilier would call it out on that. With a dark and almost angry face that looked like hiccup was close to getting his ears boxed he spoke with a calm tone "You're right. It ain't your fault but you went along with the faulted party so you are part of the mistake so you'll get rap for it whether you like it or not"
He looked to mami in a way that meant "I'll deal with you eventually" then he looked to hiccup again with a smirk "You have balls kid I'll admit that. You do have a point. I'm not really your boss.... But Gothel is. She'll be very unpleased to hear of your mistake"

"Oh, so standing up for our rights and trying to defend our people is bad?" Mami asked coldly. She didn't like this man, it might have been due to the fact that Darkness always clashed with light. "We didn't do anything wrong, in fact if i had the chance i would go and do it again. I don't care what Lady Gothel says, we are in charge of our own paths."
--- Anri had been trying to find the best way to convince Gothel to let her train on her own but that proved to be very unlikely, so watching Mami yell at a higher rank wizard was hte best form of entertainment. "You tell him girl."

| [atrb=background,http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/4480/rapunzelbodyhighschool.png] "And I'm her daughter and I have the right to speak." Rapunzel replied, chin up with pride. Her emerald gaze flickering with the pride and truth in the statement. Sure the shadow man was higher up than she was, oh well. Her eye's turned chilly as Facilier threatened Hiccup with her own Mother. "I guess it comes down to who mommy likes best." Rapunzel shrugged. She placed a hand on Hiccup's good shoulder, lightly as if not to push more weight on his missing leg.
"I for one think Mother'll be happy her student's back. Maybe he'll be grounded or something, but he just scared her." Rapunzel said stiffly. Maybe she had to much trust in her mother, maybe her judgement was just right. Rapunzel really wasn't scared, she didn't believe her mother would give a bad judgement. The shadow man gave her chills, but she refused to be put down by him. Hiccup was standing up straighter than ever with that new back bone, why couldn't she? Who was this man to put her down in her own residence? After all she had more claim to the place than her right? He was an 'friend' of Gothel's and he only stayed for that. Rapunzel was here because Gothel was her mother. There was some maternal claim right there that over ruled Dr. Facilier's right?
An uncertain grin was directed to Mami though... She'd intentionally gone to fight, it wasn't bad... but Rapunzel was never much of a rebel against her Mother's word.

"Facilier."
From atop the stairs, Gothel had seen Hiccup's entrance. While she was angry at the boy for going missing without even giving a hint about where he was, his appearance was enough to make her soften just a little. She'd been fully prepared to unleash her own tirade on Hiccup, mainly because she had been concerned about him. That much she would never admit out loud to anyone that wasn't extremely close to her, but it was the truth. Gothel had been frightened for the redhead's well being. Seeing him alive and well for the most part relieved her. However, she still had to doll out some kind of punishment. He couldn't get away with being missing for three days.
"I believe it is my duty to handle the younger students. Not yours." Gothel said as she came down to join the little group. A sharp, steely gaze was cast Hiccup's way and met the exhausted emerald gaze of the redhead in question. Whatever he had been through, he certainly looked like he had gone through hell.
"Hiccup. Do you have any idea of what I had to go through when you didn't turn up after that fight?" Gothel asked. Hiccup's silence seemed to indicate a yes, so she felt all right to go on. "I thought for sure something horrible had happened to you out there. I nearly assumed the worst, but here you stand before us. I'll be frank. You look like hell, Hiccup. But that does not excuse you from unintentionally going against what I had told everyone." she said. She hadn't wanted to participate in such an early fight simply because it would leave the wrong impression. She hadn't wanted to give the other races the idea that she was going against what she had said, namely by putting child wizards and witches out to fight when they were still ill prepared.
Her gaze softened as she looked over Hiccup again. He really did look like a wreck. Even though she didn't want to, Gothel did feel like going just a bit softer on Hiccup in light of the injuries he'd been dealt. "I can see you've learned your lesson about going into battle ill prepared. I'll let the injuries you've suffered cover that much. However, I will not be allowing you to leave the castle again for at least a week. Do you understand?" Gothel asked. She hated looking so soft, but knowing Hiccup was alive put Gothel's mind at ease. As much as she thought he was a bit of a failure at times, he was her daughter's best friend and he had suffered enough.
"...Yes, m'am." Hiccup said at length. He appeared to be getting off easy, but he felt like he wasn't. His leg would act as a constant reminder of what had happened out there. A reminder that he really did need to improve his magic skills if he was to defend anyone he cared about. Like Astrid... or Rapunzel. He couldn't help but let his shoulders sag slightly with relief. Maybe he'd been wrong about not wanting to come home. He was, at least, not being punished as harshly as he could have been.

Mami glanced at Hiccup with relief. In truth, the pain she felt for not being able to save him from something like this burned inside her. When she had survived the car crash, she had promised herself she would protect people, especially her friends. "I'm sorry i couldn't help Hiccup. If i had been stronger then maybe well...things would have turned out better."
