Are spirits allowed to join threads other than the ones in the Spiritual Realm? Or do they have to be invited?

Well, I think that they couldn't be there physically unless invited by a Dancer, but I personally think that they can have some time to come out like they were in animal form or if they could talk only to certain people........

@ Clara- Spirits can be there but pyshically they have to be either invited by a dancer or if a person is in desperate need of advice

So they can't be there physically... as in? Could they still interact with some people, and only be seen by those they want to be seen by? And physically as in they can't be touched?

@ Rapunzel-yes they can communicate with people who can only been seen by those who are being able to see them-pretty much what you just asked.
and it is difficult for them to be in a physical form for too long, if they are it is a very rare chance and it is only if they really need to

I was just thinking...could Light still have the nickname 'Kira', but instead of being called it because of the Death Note coincidence, he just gets called it by the students at his school after the attack...?

yes, like i said the only anime characters that aren't allowed are
Bleach
and FMA (but that depends on the character and what you would do with them)
